Abstract:
Raffaele Crovi (1934-2007), mainly known as a writer, poet and essayist, had a long publishing career in which he spent most of his life and brought him in the limelight of many extremely important events in some of Italy’s lead- ing publishing houses. Born near Milan, where his parents had migrated for work, he grew at Cola (re), where his ancestral home and his personal library can still be visited. This essay tells about his life as a publishing exec- utive and later on as the founder of his own publishing house. From his beginnings with Elio Vittorini at Einaudi (1954-60) to a position as deputy head editor at Mondadori (1960-66), first he directed Rusconi Libri (1978-80), then the Bompiani-Sonzogno-Etas-Fabbri Libri Group (1981-83). In 1984, he founded Camunia, a publishing house that in 1994 joined the Giunti pub- lishing group, of which he was publishing coordinator. From 2000 to 2007, he was director at Aragno publishers.
