Abstract:
Existence and persistence of oral habits such as sucking (pacifier, lip, lingual, thumb, or other), lip-biting, nail-biting,
tongue thrust may interfere with children’s development and growth, leading to dentoalveolar alterations-malocclusions and skeletal anomalies-face and profile imbalance in esthetics. In this article Authors outline early treatment as the correct way to approach children with long term bad habits, as it allows the correction of existing or
incipient discrepancies or, at least, it prevents progression in asymmetry and dysfunction.
