Abstract:
This writing examines life and works of the Milanese jurist Filippo Ambrosoli (1823-1872). Ambrosoli was an important public prosecutor and a prolific doctrine's author, devoted to analysis of criminal law's questions. His thought is an effective fusion of opinions expressed by the italian Francesco Carrara and the german Karl Anton Joseph Mittermaier. He enforced a particular method based on theoretical and practical right's knowledges. He studied how to improve the penalties, suggesting the gradual abolition of dealth penalty and the introduction of criminal colony and conditional release. Ambrosoli contributed to found into italian legal system the criminal records in order to verify condemneds' recidivism. Finally, Ambrosoli contributed to create the italian unitary law; he specifically taked part in ministerial board for compiling the criminal code's project during 1866-1871.
