Carlo Dickens’s Nineteenth Century Reception in Italy / A. Vescovi. ((Intervento presentato al convegno Dickens : lives in fiction... and afterlives tenutosi a Milano nel 2012.
Abstract:
Dickens's reception in Italy developed along two Lines, a highbrow one and a more popolar one. The latter emphasised comic and patetic effects and was allowed to survive even through the years of Fascism. The highbrow reception of CD changed dramatically from the Risorgimento years when the author was considered a literary model, to the post war years, web the author was nearly forgotten. To to the present, when he is considered as a critic of the Victorian age.
