Abstract:
Martinus Bracarensis’ De ira (VI century A.D.) represents a refined epitome and the only indirect testimony of Seneca’s De ira. This study, in which the critical text is preceded by an introduction about Martin’s life and works and completed by a philological, linguistic and literary commentary, examines the entire complex relationship between Senecan dialogue and the epitome, in order to restore a more vivid literary profile as well as an independent cultural meaning to the latter.
