Condillac’s ethics occupies a limited space in his texts, despite the fact that the Abbé recognises that knowledge of the principles of morality is what distinguishes human intelligence from animal intelligence. Despite the awkwardnesses and silences, Condillac’s approach nevertheless reveals a coherent approach that analyses morality as a second-degree need and seeks to propose an empirical genesis of the feeling of duty based on a transformation of the need itself.
