LA FUNZIONE INDICARE MISURA O GRADO NELLITALIANO ACCADEMICO: UNA PROPOSTA OPERATIVA PER STUDENTI DI ITALIANO L2/LS

“Expressing Degree or Extent” in Academic Italian: A Teaching Proposal for L2/FL Learners
The communicative function that in the Dizionario di italiano accademico (DIA), currently in progress, we have labelled as “expressing degree or extent” represents a fundamental resource of academic discourse, as it allows speakers to qualify statements, modulate judgments, express approximations, and strengthen scientific argumentation. Despite its central role, this function is often underrepresented in the teaching of Italian as an L2/FL and in the available teaching materials, which tend to privilege a limited repertoire of adverbs and fixed expressions. After briefly outlining how this function operates in academic texts, by analysing its most frequent linguistic realizations and the difficulties encountered by learners, this contribution proposes a teaching activity for B2–C1 university students. The activity is structured in three phases (exploration, consolidation, production) and is based on authentic input and texts drawn from the DIA corpus, with the aim of fostering in learners a more conscious and flexible use of the function, also through direct consultation of the DIA itself.
