Risultati della prima campagna di indagini archeologiche a Sesto Calende (VA) - Oratorio di San Vincenzo

This article aims to present the results of the 2024 geophysical survey and excavation season at Oratorio di San Vincenzo - Sesto Calende (province of Varese) conducted by the University of Milan. The site houses a late 11th-early 12th century AD rural church whose walls make extensive use of reused architectural material. Previous excavations conducted within the church and the area near its entrance brought to light a complex stratigraphy dated from at least the 1st century BC to the 12th century AD. Non-invasive analyses and one excavation season in the area south of the church have been able to confirm this chronology while also proving that the site extends over a large area.
