Concentrazioni palsmatiche di 15-chetodiidro-PGF2alfa nel neonato bovino nelle prime quattro settimane di età

The aim of this study was to evaluate the plasmatic changes of 15-ketodihydro-PGF2alpha in 10 newborn calves from birth until the fourth week of age. Blood samples were collected at 10, 20, 30 minutes after birth, at 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 hours and at 3-7, 10, 14, 21 and 28 days of age. Nine cows showed a normal and spontaneous delivery, while one cow had a dystocia, so her calf was excluded from the study. All calves were judged viable. The results regarding hormonal concentrations show high levels of 15-ketodihydro-PGF2alpha during the first 3 hours after birth, with a significant decrease starting from 6 hours of age (p<0.001). No other differences have been detected until the end of observation.
