In the debate around the construction of fascism and the use of legality
for the transition from democracy to dictatorship, the intervention of labor asso-
ciations in individual labor disputes helped to ground the structural arrangements
of the regime. The essay reflects on the relationships between fascism and corpo-
ratism, between collective and individual labor contracts, and between substantive
and procedural law, through the reconstruction of a legal institution that knots
together many threads of a very complex plot.
