Abstract:
Emotions play a very important role both in the so-called Israelkorpus (corpus Emigrantendeutsch in Israel, corpus Emigrantendeutsch in Israel: Wiener in Jerusalem and corpus Zweite Generation deutschsprachiger Migranten in Israel) and the Berliner Wendekorpus because during the narrative interviews the interviewees evoke past emotions while at the same time new ones are created.
Even if the two corpora, consultable both in the Database for spoken German (DGD) of the Leibniz-Institut für Deutsche Sprache (IDS), face different situations (the Israelkorpus the emigration of Jews from Germany, Austria or other German-speaking regions to Palestine/Israel to escape National Socialism and the Berliner Wendekorpus the fall of the wall) they tell the two most important of the five caesuras in the 20th-century democratization processes: the National Socialist dictatorship of
1933-1945 and the events of 1989 and subsequent reunification. We assume that the two corpora are part of a broader discourse, that of the Umbruch, that is, the cleavage and radical change due to social upheavals. In our contribution, we will analyze how some EMOTIONS, in particular ANGST [FEAR], are thematized in the interviews at the linguistic level, either by mentioning/not mentioning some terms, or by using more or less typical expressions. We will concentrate on the corpus Emigrantendeutsch in Israel: Wiener in Jerusalem (ISW) and on the Berliner Wendekorpus (BW). Using a quantitative-qualitative approach, we aimed to answer the following research questions:
1. What are the most frequent and typical lexemes in the semantic field Furcht/Schrecken? 2. Which word combinations have the strongest emotional potential? In a case study we focus on the lexeme Angst [fear].
