Abstract:
The unresolved, quiet, weak and independent sources of GWs of either astrophysical (Astrophysical Gravitational Wave Background-AGWB) or cosmological origin create a Stochastic Gravitational Wave Background (SGWB). In this work we focus on AGWB energy density anisotropies. Major contribution to such anisotropies come come from the inhomogeneous distribution of GW sources. We provide for the first time in the literature their cross-correlation with the Large Scale Structure (LSS) of the universe measured via the “Dark Energy and Massive Neutrino Universe (DEMNUni)” simulation suite. In particular, we present the cross-correlation of the AGWB with CMB convergence, ISW/Rees-Sciama, cosmic shear and galaxy maps from the DEMNUni simulations. Since the properties of the properties of the angular power spectrum of the AGWB (shape and amplitude) depend on astrophysical properties on galactic scale, and on cosmological properties on large scale, correlating it with different cosmological probes is a promising new window on astrophysics and cosmology.
