Note a margine di Garzone (2015) : Le traduzioni come 'fuzzy set': una breve riflessione

Giuliana Garzone leaves us a rich legacy in the domain of linguistics, which
includes original contributions to the field of translation studies, both theoretical and
applied. This brief reflection focuses on what can be considered Garzone's most
significant contribution to translation theory, namely her view of translations as a fuzzy
set. I argue that the notion of translations as a fuzzy set should no longer be considered
either new or (still) innovative, to the point of constituting a starting point - and not one of
arrival - for any further methodological reflection, in the absence of significant advances
in the understanding of how translation occurs at the neurolinguistic level that can account
for what translation actually is.
